Animal Friends of the Valleys shelter hires chief administrator
An animal welfare professional with more than 30 years of experience worldwide will take over administrative management of the southwest Riverside County’s regional shelter in Wildomar.
Animal Friends of the Valleys, the nonprofit that operates the shelter, announced the hiring of Neil Trent as its executive director.
Trent has run shelters in California, Colorado and most recently in Arlington. His career started in London, and he has worked in Australia, Taiwan, Guinea and Sierra Leone among other locales. He has won numerous awards, including recently receiving the Humane Society International Outstanding Animal Protection Award.
The shelter on Mission Trail near Corydon Street has been operating without an executive director since late last year when the Animal Friends’ board relieved its longtime executive director, Willa Bagwell, of her duties.
