The Angels on Tuesday signed infielder Colin Walsh to a minor-league deal with an invite to big league spring training.

Walsh, 28, can play infield and the corner outfield positions, but the Angels view him as a second and third baseman, general manager Billy Eppler said.

The Angels are the sixth organization for Walsh, who was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and reached the majors for 63 plate appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2016. He was 4 for 47, but he walked 15 times.

A switch-hitter, Walsh has a career .274 average in the minors, with a .397 on-base percentage, which further demonstrates Eppler’s stated goal of improving the on-base percentage in the organization.

Walsh has minor league options, so the Angels can freely move him between the majors and minors in 2018.
