Angels acquire reliever Felix Peña from Cubs
The Angels acquired right-handed reliever Felix Peña from the Chicago Cubs for cash considerations or a player to be named on Monday.
Peña, 27, has posted a 4.98 ERA with the Cubs in 36 games over the past two seasons, covering 43-1/3 innings. He has 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings in the majors. Peña throws mostly a 95 mph fastball, with a slider.
In order to create a spot for Peña on the 40-man roster, the Angels designated left-hander Jason Gurka for assignment. Gurka had been claimed on waivers late this season, and he faced five batters in three games in the majors in September.
