About 20 acres of brush charred in Aguanga-area fire

A fire in the Reed Valley area near Aguanga, east of Temecula, was stopped at 20 acres on Tuesday evening, June 13, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department news release.

The fire north of Wilson Valley Road was reported at 5:21 p.m. and burning in light to moderate fuels at a moderate rate of spread, that has sinced slowed. It was declared contained about 8 p.m.

Initially estimated at seven acres when firefighters arrived, as of 6:33 p.m. the fire was 20 acres and there were no evacuations.

The 100 firefighters were aided by a helicopter and three air tankers, according to the news release. Crews from the U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire/San Diego also assisted.
