7 Corona schools to remain closed Wednesday due to Canyon fire
By Gail Wesson
Seven schools in the Corona-Norco Unified School District will remain closed Wednesday, Sept. 27, because they are either close to the Canyon fire or to roads affected by fire activity, according to a social media post by the district.
The schools are Coronita, John Adams, Prado View, Eisenhower and Franklin elementary schools; and Cesar Chavez Academy and Citrus Hills Intermediate School.
All other district schools will remain open Wednesday, and may be placed on an “inclement weather” schedule meaning students may be kept indoors due to air quality issues.
The same schools were closed Tuesday.
The wildfire, which broke out Monday, was about 2,000 acres in size and 15 percent contained Tuesday night. It is burning in Riverside and Orange counties.
