4,000 new jobs in construction as Inland unemployment dips
April was a good month for construction in the Inland Empire. The sector picked up 4,000 jobs in the Riverside/San Bernardino/Ontario metropolitan area, according to the California Employment Development Department.
More than three quarters of those jobs, 3,100, were from specialty trade contractors.
Nonfarm employment increased by 2,700 jobs, and agricultural employment gained 100 jobs.
Unemployment dipped to 4.7 percent froma revised 5.3 percent in March. The rate was 4.9 percent in Riverside County, 4.6 percent in San Bernardino County.
Year over year, non-farm employment has grown by 43,300 jobs, or 3.1 percent.
