3 people, 7 dogs rescued from burning Little Lake home near Hemet

Firefighters rescued three people and seven dogs from a burning Little Lake home early Thursday morning, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County fire officials.

The condition of the people and animals was not immediately clear, however, fire officials said all three adults were evaluated and didn’t need to be taken to the hospital. Authorities have also called for Animal Control officers to help with the dogs.

Fire officials first reported crews pulled four dogs from the burning home in the in the 41000 block of Nona Court, but subsequent updates show an additional three dogs were rescued.

Fire dispatch received several calls of a large boom and possible fire around 4:30 a.m., officials said. Arriving firefighters reported most of the home had been engulfed in flames and that neighbors reported people may be trapped inside.

Crews’ efforts to contain the fire have been hampered by a gas leak, according to a 7 a.m. update from fire officials. Authorities are waiting for gas company crews to arrive to continue to safely battle the fire.

Soboba Fire Department and Hemet City fire department sent one engine each to assist Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters with fire suppression efforts.
