3 from Riverside County arrested in Laguna Beach home burglary
LAGUNA BEACH — Three Riverside County residents suspected of
burglarizing a Laguna Beach home Friday morning were arrested and police are seeking additional victims.
Officers responded to the 2900 block of Zell Drive at 6:56 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7 to investigate a residential burglary in progress, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.
A resident called 911 to report a suspicious truck parked in the driveway of his neighbor’s home and moments later, dispatchers received another
call from a person reporting three suspects had attempted to force entry
through his side bedroom window, police said.
The suspects were seen fleeing in a Ford truck after they were discovered by the second caller, police said. Within minutes, officers saw the suspects inside the truck speeding away before abandoning it and fleeing on foot.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department assisted Laguna Beach police with air support and police dogs to locate the suspects.
Authorities arrested 21-year-old Gwendulyn Ceballos-Jimenez after she
was found hiding in bushes and attempting to change her clothes, police said.
After an extensive search, authorities also located and arrested 29-year-old Allen Ykwang Lin and 31-year-old Michael Murilloh.
Lin sustained minor injuries from being bit by a police dog after
refusing to come out of a canyon area where he was hiding, police said.
The Ford truck was an unreported stolen vehicle out of Rialto and had stolen license plates from San Juan Capistrano, according to police.
“Our residents acted quickly and did a fantastic job reporting the
suspicious activity which led to these crooks arrest,” said Laguna Beach
police Capt. Jeff Calvert.
“We are fortunate to have such engaged residents who understand that it
is a team effort to keep our community safe.”
The suspects were booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary and possession of stolen property, police said.
