A three-car hit-and-run crash sent five people, including two infant children, to the hospital late Sunday night, San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials said.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. deputies were called to Base Line and Victoria Avenue to investigate a crash.

Seven people in total were involved in the crash, but Cal Fire officials said four ambulances took the patients to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.

A green Ford Expedition and a red Kia Sportage were initially the only vehicles involved in the crash, according to a sheriff’s news release.

However, when the occupants were getting out of their vehicles a white Lexus struck the Kia, according to the release.

The driver of the Lexus fled the scene on foot leaving the car behind. Everyone hurt in the crash suffered from minor to moderate injuries — including the children, the dispatch states.

Anyone with information, including the identification of the Lexus’ driver, is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 909-425-9793.
