20-acre fire burning off Oak Glen Road prompts shutdown of roadway; 1 structure threatened

A 20-acre brush fire was burning Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 29, off Oak Glen Road south of Riley’s Farm.

One structure was threatened by the flames, which had a moderate rate of spread, according to a Twitter message from the Cal Fire San Bernardino Unit.

Engines are in place to provide structure protection to buildings in the area, according to Cal Fire.

A San Bernardino City Unified School District school bus that was on a field trip is safe and is returning to the district, according to a tweet at 1:30 p.m. from Eric Vetere‏, of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The initial report, made to the California Highway Patrol at 12:20 p.m., was that a vehicle caught fire and the flames spread to the brush in the 12800 block of Oak Glen near Serendipity Garden Weddings.

Oak Glen Road has been closed at Wildwood Canyon Road and Pine Bench Road, the CHP website said.
