10 injured, 3 seriously, in Highway 74 collision in mountains

Ten patients, including three with serious injuries, were taken to area hospitals after a Sunday afternoon collision between a passenger vehicle and off-road vehicle on Highway 74 in the Santa Rosa Mountains, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department news release.

The incident was reported at 12:03 p.m. on the highway east of Garner Valley in the Pinyon area, going toward Palm Desert.

One patient sustained moderate injuries and six patients sustained minor injuries. Three air ambulances and four ground ambulances were summoned to assist.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
