10 holiday dance scenes from your favorite movies

This time of year, we always hear about the dancing spectacular that is “The Nutcracker,” but it turns out you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to enjoy festive dance scenes. Instead, you can catch them while watching your favorite holiday movies.

These 10 films capture the spirit of the season in more way than one, but the dance moves alone are cause for celebration. From classic moves with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire, to comedic choreography by Will Ferrell and even some animated toe-tapping by your favorite cartoon characters, these films will have you feeling holly and jolly.

1. “Home Alone”

Maybe this doesn’t really count as dancing, but Kevin definitely shows some moves as he, some mannequins and a cardboard cutout of Michael Jordan throw a fake party to discourage a pair of criminals from robbing the McCallister family.

2. “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Here we see George Bailey courting Mary during a Charleston number that doesn’t end as planned. The retractable gym floor shown in this scene still exists at Beverly Hills High School in Los Angeles.

3. “A Charlie Brown Christmas”

Does Christmas even count if you don’t catch some part of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” before the season is over? In this scene, the Peanuts gang really takes the whole “dance like nobody’s watching” phrase to heart.

4. “Mean Girls”

Not exactly a Christmas movie, but you can’t miss the iconic (though slightly risqué) dance to “Jingle Bell Rock” complete with pleather Santa skirts.

5. “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”
